WILMINGTON, Del. -

Delaware State Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash early Saturday morning in Wilmington.

According to state police, 47-year-old John Davis of Wilmington was killed in the crash shortly after 1 a.m. on the northbound lane of I495 just north of North DuPont Highway.

Police say Davis was wearing dark clothing and was standing in the roadway when he was struck by a truck with a tanker trailer attached to it.

Another vehicle, a Honda Accord, struck Davis a second time, after the driver was not able to see his body, police said. Emergency responders pronounced Davis dead at the scene.

The drivers of each vehicle were not injured.

The accident left the area of I495 closed for three hours.

State Police say their investigation is ongoing.
