HADDON HEIGHTS, N.J. -

Viewers sent us these pictures of a fire that raged in Haddon Heights on Saturday. They show huge flames towering over fire crews.

The blast, which happened in the afternoon at a three-story home on the 100 block of the Whitehorse Pike, injured two people with second-degree burns.

Cell phone video showed the raging apartment fire filling the Haddon Heights sky with plumes of smoke moments after a powerful explosion jolted the earth below, with residents saying they felt it several blocks away, and some saw debris fly into the air.

Two residents were rushed to area hospitals as the intense heat and flames took over the three-story Victorian house with five units.

Steve Berryhill says he jumped in to help: "There was a woman on the 3rd floor.  I don't know if she wasn't fully dressed or it blew her clothing off but we helped get her out. … And there were two people on the first floor that we helped get out."

The scene demanded the attention of at least nine area fire squads and first responders as witnesses lined the streets to capture every moment.

Ken Whalen shot smartphone pictures after feeling the blast from afar.

"Just the most intense fire I've ever seen," he said. "I heard an explosion about a half mile away.  I saw the smoke so I started driving towards it."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Now those that know the displaced residents are praying they can get back on their feet, FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reported from the scene.
