Maritime fest, For the Love of Chocolate, Oscars viewing party top your weekend

Time Out Chicago's Marissa Conrad says a dessert dance party themed around chocolate, free cycling classes and an Oscars bash for cleverly themed food and drink will top your weekend.
Friday-Sunday
Flywheel Highland Park Open House Cycling and barre classes are free all weekend at this chic workout studio, named a cult favorite by Time Out Chicago. Master FlyBarre instructor Todd Allen from Flywheel's New York studios also teaches free classes throughout the weekend. Experience the city's maritime heritage both past and present through sailing-related seminars, reenactments, demonstrations, exhibits and live music concerts. 10am–4:30pm, 7–10:30pm; daytime: $14, kids 12 and under free; concert: $20, kids ages 10–15 $15. For the Love of Chocolate The dinner portion of this chocolate-themed bash is sold out, but who cares? You can still buy tickets to the dessert dance party, which is exactly what it sounds like: two DJs and a lot of pastry. Proceeds help fund scholarships to the French Pastry School of Kennedy-King College at the City Colleges of Chicago. Union League Club, 65 W Jackson Blvd (312-726-2419). 8pm; $150.

The Florentine's First Annual Oscars Viewing Party Get your photo taken by "paparazzi" on the red carpet before entering this restaurant in the JW Marriott Hotel to watch the 85th Academy Awards. The night includes Oscars-themed cocktails such as the Silver Limings Playbook (Don Julio Silver tequila, Grapefruit Pellegrino, fresh lime) and Cherry Pi (Grey Goose Cherry vodka, amaretto, cherry jam and lemon). Hors d'oeuvres include Lincoln Logs (stacked salmon cannoli) and Life of Pie (mini chocolate, fruit and vanilla pies). The partygoer who makes the most accurate predictions wins an overnight stay in one of the hotel's luxury suites. 6:30pm–9:30pm. $25.
