THOMSON, Ga. (AP) -
The National
Transportation Safety Board says in a statement that a small jet
"overran" a runway during its landing and crashed into a wooded area in
eastern Georgia.
Authorities say five people died in the crash
shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday and two others were taken to a hospital
in nearby Augusta.
The NTSB also says it's launched a "go-team" of
investigators who were en route Thursday morning from Washington, D.C.
to the crash site at the Thomson McDuffie-Regional Airport west of
Augusta.
The Hawker Beechcraft 390/Premier I had departed from Nashville, Tenn., before it crashed at the airport about in Georgia.

County Sheriff Logan Marshall said the identities of those killed were
being withheld pending notification of family members.
