CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Bond was set at $150,000 Wednesday for a 15-year-old boy charged as an adult with bringing a handgun to his Northwest Side high school on Monday, a week after his brother was suspended from school for threatening to shoot a teacher.
The boy entered Foreman High School at 3235 N. LeClaire about 8:20 a.m. on Monday, accompanied by his mother, according court documents. As he entered, he was directed by school security to go through a metal detector, but refused to put his bookbag through the device.
The boy and his mother then argued about who would take the bag, so a school security officer took it, according to court documents. Inside they found an unloaded .25 caliber Raven Arms semi-automatic handgun.
The boy later admitted to school security that he had put the gun in the bookbag and brought it to the school, according to prosecutors.
Judge James Brown on Wednesday ordered the teen held on a $150,000 bond.
According to court documents, the boy's brother had been suspended from school the previous week for threatening to shoot a teacher.
