Irish stew from Nemo's Bar

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Get this recipe courtesy of the Springstead family at Nemo's Bar and Grill in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood.

The St. Patrick's Parade fundraiser will take place Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Majestic Theatre from noon - 7 p.m. For $10 guests are entitled to an authentic Irish buffet and cash bar along with musical entertainment by Irish acts as well as Ardon School of Irish Dancers.

Ingredients:
Large pot
3 tablespoons of oil
½ stick of butter
3lbs of beef cut into cubes
½ cup flour
Salt
Pepper
1 cup beef stock
1 cup of water
½ cup of ketchup
1 tablespoon red wine
5 carrots cut up
1 large potato cut up
½ cup of peas
2 tablespoons corn starch

Method:
Melt butter in pot and add oil
Flour cubed beef and brown in pot
Add pinch of salt and pepper
Add cups of beef broth and water to cover meat
Cook for 20-30 minutes of medium heat
Add ketchup, red wine and cook for one hour until meat is tender
Add carrots, potato and peas
Cook for 40 minutes on medium heat
Mix cornstarch and water add to stew to thicken
Cook to stew to 155 degrees and serve
