DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

A shooting inside the MotorCity Casino is under investigation and is raising questions about security inside Detroit's downtown casinos.

A spokesperson for MotorCity Casino confirms that a woman accidentally shot herself in the leg when a gun inside her purse discharged inside the casino early Tuesday morning. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment but her condition is not known.

FOX 2 has learned the woman has a concealed pistol license, but it is against the law to carry a gun into any Michigan casino. According to the casino spokesperson they are fully cooperating with investigators from the Michigan State Police. No one else was hurt.

None of the three casinos in Detroit require patrons to pass through a metal detector for entrance into the buildings.
