Burger King Twitter account hacked

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The hacking collective known as Anonymous has claimed responsibility for hacking Burger King's Twitter account with posts promoting McDonald's.

The fast-foot company's Twitter picture was changed to a McDonald's logo, and the account tweeted that it had been sold to rival McDonald's.

Posts from the account contained racial epithets, references to drug use by Burger King employees and obscenities. The account has also tweeted: "if I catch you at a wendys, we're fightin!"

Twitter suspended the account about an hour after the hack but embarrassing images from the hack had already spread across the internet.

Miami based Burger King did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
