COOLIDGE, Ariz. -

A man was arrested near Washington Street and Congress Avenue after running from police on Saturday night. After the short pursuit, a Coolidge police officer's face was grazed by a ricochet bullet.

The incident began when 34-year-old Korrin Harmon allegedly fled from officers, resulting in a pursuit. The Harmon's vehicle crashed into a fence and an officer shot at the vehicle's rear tire, attempting to keep it from fleeing again.

Deputies say the bullet ricocheted after hitting the rim of the tire and hit one of the other officers in the cheek.

The officer was flown to a hospital and treated for minor injuries. He was later released.

Harmon surrendered and was taken into custody and booked on numerous counts of aggravated assault and endangerment.

Deputies say Harmon admitted he was on parole and has always ran from police since he was a teen.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
