Local Restaurant Destroyed After Fire

Posted: Updated:

A fire destroyed a Montgomery County Restaurant Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials were called to The Valley Forge Beef and Ale on South Trooper Road in Lower Providence Township around 12:30.  Upon arrival the first floor of the building was filled with smoke.

The fire started in the basement where firefighters had trouble ventilating the area. The fire made its way from the basement all the way to the third floor and through the roof of the building.

The blaze took over four hours and 100 fire fighters to get under control.

There were about two dozen people in the restaurant when the blaze started, but no one was injured.

No cause has been determined, an investigation will start Monday.
