Police ID body found in Mesa apartment

MESA, Ariz. -

A man was found dead in a Mesa apartment, and detectives are investigating this as a homicide.

Police received a call for a welfare check on 35-year-old Abraham Attili Thursday night, from an unknown person. They went to check out an apartment, located at Gilbert and University in Mesa.

"When officers arrived here, they went to the described location and they saw what appeared to be blood outside of a doorway," said Mesa Police Sgt. Steve Berry.

Inside, they found the body, which had obvious signs of trauma. They also found a dog inside the apartment. Officers say it doesn't appear Attili lived at the apartment he was found in.

Police have not revealed how he died.

There are no suspects or witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

FOX 10's Kristen Keogh reports.
