(WJBK) -

President Obama wants to raise the minimum wage to $9 an hour.  Fox 2's Charlie Langton took "Let It Rip" on the road to see if people think that is a good idea.

Here is a sampling of the responses he got:

"With the economy you have to.  You have no choice."

"By the time you pay your gas bill, your water bill and your other bills how much is left?  Not much."

"Nine or ten bucks isn't going to do it, but it would help, and especially a family of two, if they're both working that's $20 an hour, then they might be able to do something."

"People are making more money, they'll be apt to spend more money."

So what would be a reasonable minimum wage?

"I think an average person to live decent this day and age is at least $14 or $15 an hour."

"About $12.50."

"Maybe like $12."

"$10 to $12."

"$8 to $8.50 is fine.  $9 might be too much because there's probably people that make $9 now that would be upset."

"At least meet half way to the standard to where we can survive."
