A 37-year-old man was arrested after threatening Mesa police officers near Alma School Road and University Drive early Wednesday morning.
Police say Jeremy Wiseman was standing on a corner of the intersection holding a sign saying "Stop the harassment Mesa Police" for several hours.
A bicyclist called police saying Wiseman was being disruptive, causing the person to take a different route. While officers were investigating, Wiseman allegedly yelled expletives at officers and said "Come arrest me, you slime."
Police say when they approached Wiseman to arrest him, they saw he had a gun taped to the back of the sign he was holding.
Wiseman was told to drop the gun and sign but when he didn't, police say he was tased by two officers.
When interviewed, Wiseman claimed he had a gun to protect himself from Mesa Police.
Later at a holding facility, Wiseman allegedly said "You saw what happened to shooting cops in southern California" and threatened he would bond out and take care of "the problem."
Wiseman was booked into jail and faces charges of disorderly conduct and threats.
