Suspicious Vehicle Held Destructive Weapons In Camden County

Posted: Updated:
SOMERDALE, N.J. -

A man has been charged with the possession of destructive devices after his vehicle was found parked illegally in Camden County early Wednesday morning, police said.

Somerdale police called in the Camden County bomb squad around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after a suspicious vehicle was noticed outside of a municipal building.

The bomb squad investigated the vehicle, a white Ford Crown Victoria with Pennsylvania registration, that was illegally parked on Cedar Avenue in Somerdale, police said. The presence of explosive material was indicated in the initial search, allowing a warrant to be issued to further search the vehicle.

Police said no explosives were found, but investigators found enough evidence to charge the owner of the vehicle, Fernando Antonio Salguero, with 10 criminal counts, including the possession of certain weapons and the transportation of weapons.

Salguero has been taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility where he is being held on $32,500 cash bail. The scene in Somerdale is now clear.
