U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk says returning to the Senate after suffering a life-threatening stroke has been 1 of the greatest honors of his life - and one he doesn't want to squander by bickering over partisan issues.
In an interview with The Associated Press, the Illinois Republican described his return to the Senate as grueling but fulfilling. Now that he is back in Washington, Kirk says he is looking for ways to work with members in both parties and believes that is the best way for the country to address its issues.
Kirk is partnering with New York Democratic Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer on two pieces gun control legislation.
