Mesa Police have arrested a man who they say was viewing and distributing child pornography.

Detectives arrested 45-year-old David Lee Stice last Tuesday on 3 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 1 count of drug possession, and 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation began several months ago when Mesa officers began a proactive search for suspects viewing and exchanging child porn over the internet.

They zeroed in on a computer in the 900 block of West 9th Place that had downloaded child porn, police say.

A search warrant was obtained on the residence and Stice was contacted. At the time officers knocked on his door, Stice was allegedly in the process of viewing child porn on his computer.

Stice admitted to the crimes and acknowledged his computer contained hundreds of files of child porn.

During the commission of the search warrant, officers also found drugs.
