PHOENIX -

Phoenix police say they've made an arrest in a series of armed robberies attributed to the so-called "calligraphy bandit."

Police say Tomas Garcia-Mancinas faces numerous felony charges stemming from robberies of pharmacies during the past three months.

The robber in those cases presented handwritten notes and demanded oxycodone.

According to police, three weapons believed to have been used in the robberies were recovered in searches conducted after Garica-Mancinas was arrested Friday.

A public defender who represents Garcia-Mancinas didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Authorities say Mancinas began taking oxycodone after his fingers were severed in Mexico.
