HATTIESBURG, Miss. -

Residents in Hattiesburg spent much of the day trying to clean up from Sunday's storm in heavy rain.

Cell phones and camcorders captured a tornado rip through southern Mississippi Sunday.

The large tornado was on the ground across several counties.

The tornado split through brick buildings, picked up trucks and plowed through neighborhoods.

NOAA tells FOX there were 76 reported injuries, while Mississippi Emergency Management officials estimated about 300 homes were damaged with 100 roads blocked by debris.

Officials with the University of Southern Mississippi say many buildings were badly damaged by the storm, but no one on campus was injured.

Weather officials tell FOX there was an 18 minute warning before any destruction took place.
