DETROIT (AP) -

A man accused of shooting a 72-year-old woman during a home invasion was charged with attempted murder Sunday.

Terry Lyons, 22, pled not guilty during a video arraignment. Police say he broke into the elderly woman's house on Sussex back on Feb. 8, then shot the woman nine times.

Incredibly, she survived and is now recovering from her wounds.

Lyons is facing several criminal charges, including assault with intent to murder, home invasion and others.

A judge ordered him held on a $500,000 bond and he's due in court Feb. 19 for a preliminary hearing.
