Northeast snowstorm expected to affect flights at Atlanta airport

ATLANTA -

A massive winter snowstorm in the northeast is expected to disrupt airport travel across the country. Thousands of flights have already been canceled, including some at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Most delays and cancellations are coming out of areas such as Chicago and Michigan, and more are expected as cancellations as the severe weather continues. Travelers are urged to check their flights before leaving for the airport. To check your flight time out of Atlanta's airport and delays, click here.

Many airlines are waiving their ticket reissue fee for travels wishing to change their flight plans. Some specific information provided by individual airlines is listed below:

American Airlines

Due to weather, American Airlines offers customers the convenience to change their plans. Customers ticketed to travel on AA flights to, through or from the airports listed may change flights as shown below.

Delta

If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, you are entitled to a refund. Even if your flight is not canceled, you may make a one-time change to your ticket without fee if you are scheduled to travel to, from, or through the following destinations on Delta, Delta Connection®, or Delta-coded flights during the specified time periods listed below.

When rescheduled travel occurs beyond Feb 12, 2013, the change fee will be waived. However, a difference in fare may apply. Final travel must be completed by end of ticket validity, one year from date of original issue.

Airtran Airways is monitoring winter weather conditions in the Midwest and developing in the Northeast over the next couple days. Currently, we are operating our scheduled flight service; however, there's a possibility that our flights on Thursday, February 7; Friday, February 8; and Saturday, February 9 could be delayed, diverted, or cancelled.

    New Haven police say they have charged a Westbrook with making a hoax call in November to say an armed man was heading to shoot up Yale University.
    Police say they have charged a Connecticut man with making a call in November in which he falsely claimed an armed man was on his way to shoot up Yale University. New Haven police said Wednesday that 50-year-old Jeffrey Jones, of Westbrook, has been charged with falsely reporting an incident, threatening, reckless endangerment, misuse of the emergency 911 system and breach of peace.
