Fire-breathing stilt walker should heal in 2 weeks: Doctor

Six months from now, the Lyric Opera accident that left fire-breathing stilt-walker Wesley Daniel with second-degree burns on his neck will likely be only a "bad memory," Daniel's doctor said Thursday.
Daniel, 24, was released from Loyola University's burn unit in Maywood Thursday afternoon.
Dr. Arthur Sanford, talking to reporters at Loyola, compared Daniel's wounds to a "deep sunburn," which should heal within two weeks.
"Wesley is in good spirits," Daniel's father, Clifton Daniel, told reporters. "We're going to take him home and let him eat what he wants and watch what he wants [on TV]. ... We're going to let him rest and begin to heal."
Clifton Daniel said his son, who initially had a breathing tube poked down his throat, hasn't been able to say what exactly caused Monday's accident. Wesley Daniel's face was engulfed in flame while performing a fire-breathing stunt during a dress rehearsal of Lyric Opera's "Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg."
Clifton Daniel said he has not yet spoken to investigators looking into the accident.
