SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) - A Mexican man is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle nearly 38 pounds of methamphetamine into southern Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say 50-year-old Guillermo Eleazar Lopez-Rodriguez has been turned over to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

CBP officers and a detection canine found $538,000 worth of meth hidden in the frame of an SUV Lopez-Rodriguez was driving.

The drugs and vehicle were seized at the scene.
