McGee the cat, then 2, vanished from home more than three years ago. Charlene Lanigan frantically searched for him everywhere but he never returned home in East Islip, Long Island.
Although she never gave up hope McGee would return, she still wasn't prepared for the phone call she received from the East Islip animal shelter.
They said that a cat was brought in with a chip identifying his owner.
For the last month or so, McGee had been hanging out in Bobby Boyle's backyard. Being a cat lover himself, bobby decided to bring him down the shelter when it started getting really cold, figuring a cat as beautiful as this couldn't be just a stray.
The now-5-year-old McGee is back home where he belongs.
His tail is a little less fluffy and he weighs a pound more. But other than that, and those 3 years he disappeared, McGee acts like nothing has changed.
