DETROIT (myFOXDetroit.com) -

His neighbors know him as "Red," and he's the man to call for snow removal in one west side neighborhood.

When a fire at his former place of work left him unemployed, 60 year-old Alphonza Burgess found a new calling.

He dug out his snow blower and started charging $10 a house on Heyden Street, near Evergreen and Tireman.

But on Sunday, his money making gig came to a halting stop.

Around 2 p.m., "Red" made a quick stop at an abandoned home in the neighborhood. He was doing a little treasure hunting, just poking around.

He was inside for only a few minutes when someone made off with his source of income.
