Phoenix Police say a woman died after a truck hit her near Thunderbird Road and 19th Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
23-year-old Jackie Ruiz was walking on a sidewalk on Thunderbird Road when a Dodge Ram went off the road and hit her. She later died at a hospital.
The driver of the truck was 19-year-old Daniel Huynhthong Do; he had two 15-year-old boys and a 13-year-old boy in the truck with him.
Officers say Do drove onto the sidewalk, hitting Ruiz and ultimately colliding with a block wall surrounding an apartment patio. There is significant damage to the wall.
Do told police his truck had a tire blow out, causing him to hit the curb.
Police say Do may have been weaving before he drove off the road. It will take several weeks before police know if he was impaired.
No arrests have been made.
Thunderbird Road between 19th Avenue and 20th Avenue was shut down for several hours on Saturday night.
