Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit that helps thousands of valley families get into homes they otherwise couldn't afford.
Now the organization is taking things one step further and helping those new homeowners save money.
The work started bright and early Saturday morning.
A group of volunteers and employees from Harmon Solar installed panels on their own time.
Harmon Solar is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity to make the homes the non-profit builds more energy efficient.
Owner Dan King says this project has been a group effort. Suppliers, for example, donated items.
"We felt that Habitat is a great organization offering the people that they serve a hand up, not a hand out and we like to be affiliated with an organization like that," said Dan Kind.
One home in particular received 12 panels, a system that could potentially save the homeowner up to $600 a year.
"They've been amazing. It's defiantly been a lot of savings and it's allowed me to be able to use money that I would have spent on so much electric bills like other things like say the mortgage, groceries," said Fatima Martinez, a Habitat for Humanity home owner.
Martinez lives two doors down from the house being constructed. Martinez moved into her habitat home about a year ago.
She has received bills as low as $40 a month and is hopeful her neighbor will have the same results.
"It's amazing, it's great to be able to see that another family is going to be able to benefit from something--that's just going to help her out, so much for her and her kids," said Martinez.
"I think that it sends a message just to everybody, everybody is more conscious being energy conscious," said King.
This is the company's fourth home with Habitat and by no means the last.
Harmon Solar hopes to install panels in several more homes in the year to come, saving even more people more money.
The house worked on Saturday will go to a single mom of four. She happened to be moving Saturday and wasn't able to share her excitement about the new home.
