Bronx teen accused of pushing boy off building roof

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police say a 17-year-old boy is accused of pushing a 9-year-old boy off an apartment building roof in the Bronx Friday night.

Casmine Aska has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in the second degree after he allegedly dragged Freddy Martin to the top of the building and pushed him off.

Police arrived to 1545 Nelson Avenue in the Morris Heights section around 8:30 p.m. and found Martin unconscious with severe body trauma.

EMS took Martin to Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The NYPD says Martin regained consciousness and was able to name his attacker.

The New York Post says Aska tried to hide at a neighbor's home but was soon apprehended by police as he tried to leave the building.   He allegedly told detectives conflicting versions of what happened and eventually implicated himself.

Authorities say the Aska and the victim are neighbors.
