MCSO: 16-year-old boy found in Glendale drop house

Posted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -

Deputies say a 16-year-old boy was found in a drop house near Glendale and 75th Avenues late Thursday night.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a 16-year-old boy was found among 10 illegal aliens.

Sheriff's detectives received information about a possible drop house in Glendale during an investigation. Deputies found and arrested nine suspects after deputies say they admitted to being in the country illegally.

The suspects told deputies they were on their way to California, Ohio, Indiana, Washington and Pennsylvania. Deputies say they admitted to paying between $2,000 and $4,500 to be smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico.

Eight illegal aliens were booked into jail on state felony charges, instead of being turned over to Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The 16-year-old boy and his uncle were turned over to ICE.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says in recent incidents, eight minors have been turned over to ICE officials after being part of a human smuggling operation.
