Tucson woman sentenced in death of ex-boyfriend

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson woman who arranged for her ex-boyfriend to be fatally beaten has been sentenced to life in prison with parole possible after 25 years.

The Arizona Daily Star says 33-year-old Sara Golden also was sentenced Monday to a consecutive 5-year prison term for kidnapping. She was convicted last month of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of 30-year-old Jerry Lewis.

Pima County prosecutors say Lewis took a cab to Golden's house on Nov. 21, 2010. She allegedly told him she had broken up with another man and wanted to reunite.

After Lewis walked in the house, authorities say he was duct-taped and beaten into unconsciousness.

He was stuffed into the back of a car and a forensic pathologist testified at trial that Lewis died of positional asphyxiation.
