Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg on gender inequality: Chat Room

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
On Monday's Chat Room comedian Patti Vasquez and Lifestyle Consultant Rochelle Trotter talk about gender inequality.
This weekend Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg made headlines as she put forth her views on inequality for women while speaking at the World Economic Summit.
She began her speech by showing two kids tshirts: the one for the boy read "Smart Like Daddy," while the one for the girl read "Pretty Like Mommy."
"Sadly," she stated, "these are not from 1951, they are from last year! "
Is there truly gender inequality in America today -- after all women have come so far.
Patti stated boys are raised to be more competitive than girls and that plays into these gender stereotypes. She stated that girls still remain a small percentage of things typically done only by boys, such as robotics class etc. She is teaching her sons that they need to know girls are their equal, and they can do the same things as boys if they are interested.
Rochelle is glad Sandberg was brave enough to face what, in her opinion, is systematic oppression as a component of this somewhat misogynistic society in which we live. There are only 18 females that head major Fortune 500 companies -- that's 3%. The facts don't lie. This needs to shift and the only way it will is if we keep talking about it vs. pretending it does not exist.
Catch Patti and the cast from My Life Is A Joke at Zanies Comedy Nightclub performing tonight at 8:30PM!
