SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

Two men are recovering after being shot in the parking lot of a Sandy Springs apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

Police say Rodney Dorsey, 22, of Roswell, was in the car with driver Alexander Cruz, 21, of Sandy Springs when they were shot. Dorsey was shot twice in the leg and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. He was in the intensive care ward, but was reportedly in stable condition Saturday night.

Cruz was also injured by one of the shots and was taken to Northside Hospital where he was treated and released from the hospital.

A third man, Darryl Charleton, 22, of Sandy Springs, was also in car, but was not injured.

Captain Steve Rose with the Sandy Springs Police Department says this started around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in near the 1400 building of the Colonial Grand Apartments near Roswell Road. Witnesses reported hearing a dozen shots in the area.

Police say the men fled the scene after the shooting and were able to flag down an ambulance.

Officers canvassed the area well into the night searching for anything that would lead them to the gunman.

Anyone with further information on the incident should contact the Sandy Springs Police Department.
