Clayton Co. teens arrested for breaking into cars

JONESBORO, Ga. -

Police say two 15-year-old boys are under arrest after breaking into about 70 cars, stealing everything from bubble gum to handguns.

It was a crime of opportunity, police say, as the pair of teen found unlocked vehicles and took whatever they could from inside those vehicles.

Police showed FOX 5's Doug Evans some of the evidence they seized when they arrested the teens. Bags of cash and a semi-automatic handgun stood out among the other items.

Investigators say they believe the motivation is the teen's drug habit. They say both the teens are addicted to heroin.

They warn that drivers should always lock their cars, hide their valuables out of plain view, and put items in the truck when they cannot go inside.
