INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) -- Inkster police say a third grader at Daly Elementary School brought a loaded gun to school Thursday and showed it to a classmate, who told his mother.  That mom called the school, and Friday school officials searched the child and found that same loaded gun.

Sources say the eight-year-old told police he needed it for protection because he was being bullied.

Thankfully the gun was confiscated before anyone was hurt.  The child was arrested, but later released to his parents.  We stopped by their Detroit home, but someone shut the door when we tried to ask a question.

Sources tell me police ran the gun and it is legally registered to one of the child's family members.  Meanwhile, the little boy will most likely face charges and a lot of questions.
