CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The chairman of Illinois' Republican party continues to come under fire for his stance on gay marriage.

Pat Brady has said publicly that he personally supports same-sex marriage rights which goes against the party's official stance.

On Thursday, former Congressman Joe Walsh called for Brady to step aside, saying, "The chairman of the party must publicly support the platform. For the good of the party, Brady should step down."

Brady has been the head of the Illinois Republican party since 2009.
