PHOENIX -
An east valley woman has a garage full of shoes. But this isn't a story about woman with a shopping problem. It's a story of a mom helping another mom in her quest to adopt a special needs baby.
It began with a Facebook plea for used shoe donations -- and ended up with more donations then one east valley mom could handle.
Lindsay Holmstrom didn't expect to get this many shoes donated.
"I was shocked! We have about 1,300 pairs of shoes," she says.
"I thought I would get a few grocery bags full and throw them in the back of my car and move on and that didn't happen, so now I have all these shoes and don't know what to do with them."
Her garage is full of shoes, but these shoes are in need of making their way to a southern California mom.
"She's been really trying to rally the troops over the last month."
Lindsay Holmstrom collected all these shoes to be part of a shoe drive to raise money for adoption fees for her friend.
"The little girl she's adopting has spina bifida. She also has a biological son with spina bifida so she felt a pull toward the same cause. These children don't get adopted as often as those without special needs."
Having thousands of shoes in Arizona that need to be in California -- these shoes won't walk their way to California.
"So the problem is I have all these shoes… and I need a way to get them to California by the end of the month. So I'm looking for help."
If you'd like to contact Lindsay to help her get all the shoes to California, she can be reached at: LHolmstrom08@gmail.com
