Kate Upton Mercedes commercial, women in combat: Chat Room

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

On Thursday's Chat Room, Sun-Times Splash Editor Susanna Negovan and Lifestyle Consultant Rochelle Trotter talk about women: in cutoffs and in combat.

Supermodel Kate Upton is once again making headlines as she appears in what is being lauded as a very sexually promiscuous ad for Mercedes Benz "in a chest barring top and cut off jean shorts." Many believe the ad should not appear in the Super Bowl because it sexualizes women.

Susanna thinks it is nothing we've not seen before in ads, and doesn't believe it is offensive as Kate isn't doing anything like getting wet or rubbing on the car.

Rochelle thinks this is all being blown out of proportion. If the ad featured a man, with 4 women washing the car it would be deemed "sexist." No double standards! Mercedes is trying to appeal to men and they've successfully done it with this ad. They were smart to "leak" the ad, as it's all the hype on social media and they are definitely getting bang for their ad spending. No hating on this beautiful girl!

Next the woman spoke about the recent approval for women to fight in combat along men.

Susanna has mixed feelings about this, as women should have rights to fight however at what cost? Rochelle thinks it is high time, as the women take the same tests as men so if they are qualified to be in the armed forces, they are qualified to fight.
