CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A lot of Naperville residents have fought against new electric smart meters for a long time. Now, the Tribune says two people were arrested Wednesday for resisting workers trying to install the meters.

The city is reportedly sending police officers to accompany work crews to certain homes.

Naperville has installed a reported 57,000 so far. The city says it will improve efficiency and reduce costs.

An anti-smart meter group says it's concerned about safety and privacy.
