Phoenix Police investigate carjacking in west Phoenix

PHOENIX -

One suspect has been arrested and a second is outstanding in a carjacking and hit-and-run in west Phoenix.

Police say this started out as a hit-and-run collision in the area of 81st Ave and Weldon. An officer observed the hit-and-run and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle.

Two men bailed out of the car and fled.

Police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and took one man into custody at 80th Ave and Indianola. The second suspect has not yet been located.

Officers believe the men were involved in a carjacking/kidnapping prior to the collision. The victim was not injured.

No names have been released in this case.
