The first ever National Gun Appreciation Day is Saturday, Jan. 19.
Beginning at 10 a.m., folks are invited to visit Huron Valley Guns at 143 S. Milford Road in the former Farmer Jack plaza to tailgate and let Congress and the President hear their pro gun message.
Ed Swadish, owner of Huron Valley Guns says business is booming at his store, and has increased 1,000 percent since he opened last June. He attributes much of the hike in sales to people's concerns that their right to own a firearm might be taken away in the not-too-distant future.
"I think the Obama administration is creating this mad rush, driving people to buy guns (now) that otherwise wouldn't buy one," he said. "And a lot of them aren't even 'gun people.' "
