Tempe Police unveil new technology for easy records access

Posted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -

Tempe police has new technology allowing officers to search for records directly from patrols.

Officers can now research information to help them make an arrest from the field without having to call a dispatcher to verify information.

The old software took a few minutes to retrieve information -- but now officers can get results within seconds.

This new technology has already proved to be successful.

"One of the plates I ran came back with a hit through our RMS system, which is our records manager system, that's the new system we're using -- it came back with a hit on that as being a suspect in a strong armed robbery," said Tempe Police Officer Ross Thompson.

This new system has allowed Tempe police to make several arrests.
