Dog in desperate need of ACL surgeries

Posted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

A valley dog that was rescued from being euthanized desperately needs surgery on his two back legs.

His name is Hunter and right now is being cared for by a "no kill" shelter. The foster family is asking for the public's help.

Hunter shouldn't be alive. In fact he has only survived because someone at a local no kill shelter had mercy.

"He was turned into a Maricopa County shelter because they couldn't afford his surgeries," says Elizabeth Anderson, AZ Labs and Giant Breed Rescue.

5-year-old Hunter was going to be euthanized.

"He was put on a list because they just can't afford to do all the surgeries that need to be done on some of the dogs that come in," says Anderson.

Hunter needs two ACL surgeries on his two back legs, which is expected to cost $3,000, so the shelter has had to fundraise to try to get this fun loving guy two surgeries he desperately needs.

"He's a big sweetheart, he plays with my dogs, he plays with my kids, he puts as many toys as he could possibly put in his mouth and balls and runs around the house, even with the injury," says Suzanne Harris, AZ Labs and Giant Breed Rescue.

The limp, however, is noticeable.

Anderson and the rest of the group are hoping to find Hunter a good home after he recovers.

To help Hunter you can call the "KidsPark" in Scottsdale on Cactus and Tatum to donate money.
