Vote to make Chicago the national St. Patrick`s Day headquarters

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

There's no place like Chicago on St. Patrick's Day, from the green river to the traditional downtown parade. But this year, the Shamrock Chicago Council wants to take it to the next level.

The council, which is made up of prominent local businessmen and women, is promoting a 2013 initiative which encourages people to vote online to have Chicago named "the U.S. headquarters for St. Patrick's Day."

Voting is open from now through March 12 on the Council's website.

The Shamrock Chicago team and the Shannon Rovers were out Thursday afternoon, blanketing a variety of local Irish pubs to spread the word.
