The state has rested in the case against Jodi Arias. She was back in the courtroom after Wednesday's proceedings were once again filled with a lot of surprises.
So far, the prosecution has presented some tough evidence against Arias, saying she murdered Travis Alexander in a jealous rage.
Authorities say she stabbed and slashed Alexander nearly 30 times, slit his throat, and shot him in the head June 4, 2008, at his Mesa home. Arias first told police she knew nothing of the killing. Later she said two intruders killed him while she managed to escape.
The jury was given a chance to ask questions of the lead investigator in the case. Surprisingly, many of the questions were about the victim and his roommates. They were also shown more shocking video from Arias' interrogation.
"If I had it in me to kill him, the least I could have done is make it humane as possible and quick or something," she said.
Arias had admitted to the killing, but claims she had to defend herself against an enraged and abusive Alexander -- which contradicts what she said in the video.
The trial will resume on January 29th. If convicted, she could get the death penalty, becoming just the fourth woman on Arizona's death row.
