His training ground may have been a little shaky, but Frankie Ford of Brooklyn took a big step to stardom when he advanced in auditions for American Idol.

Ford, who regularly performed on the Q train to make extra cash, says he got a lot of positive feedback from the judges.

"I'm looking forward to implementing anything they can teach me as an artist. I hope I'm going to do New York City proud,"said Ford.

The second night of the season 12 premiere of Idol airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on FOX 5.
