Man killed trying to jump off train in Philly

Posted: Updated:

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say a man was killed in north Philadelphia after he tried to jump off a moving train that wasn't in service.

Investigators say the man boarded the train early Wednesday and then realized it was out of service and not making stops. He pried the doors open and tried to jump off the train, but authorities say he hit a pole and was killed.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the man suffered severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead around 1:30 a.m.

The man's name has not been released.
