PHOENIX -

A Phoenix radio personality has died in Arizona shortly after contracting flu-like symptoms while visiting Florida during the holidays.

Stephen Seravalli, known as Deejay Trauma on Phoenix's Power 98.3, died at his Phoenix home over the weekend. He was 38.

Operations director Marc Young of Phoenix-based Riviera Broadcasting confirmed Seravalli's death, but had no additional information.

Seravalli had previously worked at WiLD 94.1 in Tampa Bay from 1999 to 2008. Former colleagues say they saw Seravalli just a few weeks ago before he returned to Arizona with what he thought was a bad case of the flu.

"Just a really really great friend, a great man a wonderful father, and you know he's really really going to be missed," said DJ Coz by phone. "He's the kind of person that would come into a room and he would absolutely light the room up with his personality, and he had a very infectious laugh that he was known for in this area, and I'm not sure if it made it to the Phoenix airwaves or not, but anybody that knew him knew that that was his signature laugh."

An autopsy is planned.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Jan. 22 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
