Charges against ex-officers to be reconsidered

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Pima County prosecutors will have a new grand jury consider whether five former county corrections officers should face charges in a fight involving four other people outside a Tucson bar last September.

Defense attorneys accused the prosecution of unfairly presenting the case to the grand jury that indicted the former officers.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that the County Attorney's Office responded in court Monday.

Deputy County Attorney Rona Kreamer told a judge that the original charges have been dismissed and that another grand jury will consider the case.

The five former officers lost their jobs and were charged with aggravated assault.
