DETROIT (WJBK) -- Three people were injured when a van slammed into a tree going at least 40 mph in a Detroit neighborhood.

Detroit officer Scott Sheets says the driver was ejected in the collision on Wisconsin St. just south of 7 Mile Road Tuesday morning.

Sheets says the driver and another passenger were critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital. A second passenger was also hurt, but is listed in stable condition.

Sheets says the cause of the accident is still under investigation. He says alcohol has not been ruled out.
