DETROIT (WJBK) -- Ford has grown its popular Transit Connect cargo van into the full-size 2014 Transit van.
29 percent of the auto industry these days is made up of commercial vehicles. Buyers are businesses, police departments, ambulance services and public safety organizations.
"We'll be offering, in fact, a 150, 250, 350 and a Heavy Duty 350 version of the Transit, and we expect to be best in class in fuel economy in every configuration," said a Ford representative.
The new family of vans will replace the E-Series, which has been around for 51 years and a leader in the commercial van segment for more than three decades.
The newest additions will fit all sizes with three different roof heights.
"High, medium and low. In fact, the jumbo Transit has twice the cubes of the standard Transit. That's how much variety there is in cubic space inside the vehicle," the representative said.
