PHOENIX -

A man trimming a tree at a Phoenix home cut himself with a chainsaw. Friday, firefighters found the man on the roof of the home unconscious, near 36th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Phoenix Fire says he was hit by a branch and then pinned to the top of the tree.

They wouldn't say where on his body he got cut, but say he lost a lot of blood.

Crews secured him to a backboard and lowered him down a ladder.

"We had several crews out here that we were able to move him quickly and get him transported as soon as possible, and also start the IV fluids and the necessary treatment," says Phoenix Fire Capt. Hugh Chase.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
